Dr. Jamie Ayers

Dr. Jamie Ayers

Medical Director

St George’s Vet Hosp’s current Medical Director, Dr. Ayres graduated from Ross University in 2001. Her special interests include surgery and ophthalmology. Some of her favorite pastimes are hiking, exploring the nations’ state parks, rooting for the Seattle Seahawks & spending time with her husband, family, and five wonderfully unique pets.

Dr. Joel Friedman

Dr. Joel Friedman

Veterinarian

Hospital director, Dr. Joel Friedman founded St. Georges Veterinary Hospital in 1978. Before establishing St. Georges, Dr. Friedman practiced veterinary medicine at Lexington Animal Hospital in Clark, NJ from 1975 to 1979.

An avid sports fan and scholar of baseball history, Dr. Friedman grew up in New York City and has lived in Scotch Plains, NJ for the last three decades. Dr. Friedman attended State University of New York, Farmingdale, where he earned an Associate’s Degree in Animal Science. He went on to attend Cornell University, where he was awarded a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture. Dr. Friedman earned his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at the University of the Philippines College of Veterinary Medicine in 1975. His professional interests include dermatology, parasitology, dentistry and internal medicine.

Dr. Friedman is a member and past president of the Metropolitan New Jersey Veterinary Association. He also maintains membership in the American Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr. Friedman can usually be found cheering on the Mets, Jets, Nets and the Devils. He also loves golf, both as a spectator and player. Aside from sports, he enjoys going to rock and folk concerts and Broadway productions. Dr. Friedman also loves reading about the history of baseball, especially anything about the Brooklyn Dodgers. His wife, Lauren, shares many of his hobbies, and the couple has an adult daughter, Eryn. At home, Dr. Friedman cares for Maggie Belle, a Scottish Terrier.

Dr. Louis Papaterpou

Dr. Louis Papaterpou

Dr. Louis Papaterpou received his BS from The City College of NY. Graduated from the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine where he was awarded his DVM degree in 1997. He is married to his lovely wife, Angela, and is the father of two wonderful teenage sons, one of whom recently began attending college. He has two adopted dogs and his heart lies with his home and family.  His interests include playing guitar, and building and flying model air planes.

Dr. Michelle Rivera

Dr. Michelle Rivera

Dr. Michelle Rivera grew up in Perth Amboy, NJ. She received her BS in Biology from Fairleigh Dickinson University Madison Campus and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine. Her professional interests include dermatology and surgery. Outside of work, Dr. Rivera enjoys trying out new local restaurants, spending time with family and friends, and watching old horror films with her dog, Pearl.

Dr. Samantha Sack

Dr. Samantha Sack

Dr. Samantha Sack is a University of Delaware graduate, where she earned her BS in Animal Science. She was awarded her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University in 2013. Her interests include gardening in the spring and summer, playing a variety of games, and dabbling in a variety of arts and crafts. She enjoys reading, drinking tea, and spending time with her cat, Naija.

Pat Tak Brown

Practice Manager

Pat began her career at St. Georges Veterinary Hospital as a technician in 1987, but she had been a client since 1978. She has her Bachelors of Science in Business Management from Rutgers University, Pat was promoted to manager in 2003. She has four dogs (two Schipperkes, a German Shepherd, and a Pug) and two rescued cats. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family. Pat and her husband Charlie enjoy cruising on their Harleys, and she is even a member of the Motor Maids Motorcycle Club.

Technician

I have been a technician at St. Georges Vet for three years. I have two dogs – Oreo and Winnie, two bunnies – Chestnut and Sandy, and a bearded dragon named Delilah. In my spare time, I enjoy taking walks and spending time with my dogs, playing guitar, and playing basketball with my nephew.

A love for animals started for me when I was young and my family adopted a greyhound. That love blossomed into a love for all animals in need. I have worked with animals for over 15 years and hope to continue to do so for the rest of my life. At home, I care for my three sweet cats, Oliver, Layla, and Katrina. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my daughter, family, and friends.

I love working with animals and helping to make a difference in their lives. Being able to see them leave better than they came is my favorite part of the job. As a technician, my goal is to treat every patient as if they were my own.

I have been an employee of St. Georges Veterinary Hospital for seven years, but have worked with animals for over a decade. At home, I care for four dogs and two cats. In my spare time, I run a grooming business and pet sitting service.

I currently hold the position of receptionist at St. Georges Veterinary Hospital. I have held this position for the last 4 years. I am the mother of six, and we have two cats, Max and Charlie.
